The prayer I begin everyday day with

Every morning, I say this prayer from A Course in Miracles:

“Where would you have me go?

What would you have me do?

What would you have me say? And to Whom?”

The best is when I remember to do so as soon as I wake up…Before I get out of bed, I say it quietly to myself as I take in the morning  and snuggle a bit more under the covers.

Like the prayer of Saint Francis, this prayer grounds me in my purpose.  I believe that our purpose is to love, and that this purpose can manifest in many different ways.  A teacher can love through teaching, an artist can love through painting, and a barista can love through service.   When I say this prayer, I am asking to be led to the very best situation where I can be of service.  It allows me to be open and receptive throughout my day.  If I have been led to a situation where I don’t know what do to do or say, I repeat the prayer to myself in my mind, and almost immediately my energy shifts, allowing me to access resources within me that may have been blocked.

It is not like I do not have goals or plans for my days!  Anybody who knows me well knows it is quite the contrary :) What this prayer does is guide me to those activities I have planned (and unexpected new ones) that will be of the greatest good for the greatest number of people.  I thus approach my plans and goals with a wonderful flexibility that allows me to create something greater than what I could have imagined.  It is pretty powerful.  I highly recommend it.
