When I need inspiration, I read this

The poem Invictus is one of my go-to’s when I need an inspirational boost. If it inspired Nelson Mandela on Robben Island, I am pretty sure it will always do the trick no matter what I’m facing ;)  In those moments when what is required of me is to move forward on faith, believing that it will all somehow work out (though who knows how…), I read this poem, I listen to it on my phone, and I even see a video of the movie that came out a few years back.

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.
