Spirituality lengthens life span

Below is recent news from Harvard Health.

According to researchers from Harvard, participating in spiritually rich activities like attending religious services can lengthen your lifespan.

115,000 women participated in the Nurses' Health Study and completed questionnaires every four years between 1996 and 2012.

Those who attended religious services during this period were 33% less likely to pass away.

They also had lower risks of smoking and depression, and were more likely to have a strong social system-- an important predictor of general wellness.

Participating in traditional religious services is only one way to measure spirituality and other practices, like meditation, may have similar results.
