"I’d like other people to be like me"
/I recently saw this video and teared up with sheer inspiration. It hits close to my heart as I’ve played tennis since I was 6 years old, though you don’t need to be a tennis player to truly understand how incredible Serena Williams’ accomplishments are. Lots has been written about her and what she has achieved, so I will leave you only with the video and these two questions:
- How much of your life have you spent trying to live someone else’s life? Their goals and expectations?
- What will it take to choose to live your life in a way that inspires others to live to their highest potential? Ultimately I believe that’s what Serena’s message is about. For me, it’s less superficial, e.g. “I’d like other people to be as good at tennis as me, or as strong as me, or as…fill in the blank…” but much deeper. Because she sought to do her best, reach excellence, live her gifts, by her example she empowers all of us to do the same, in whatever way we are gifted. We can choose to live our lives to inspire others to do the same.
I would love to hear from you, so please leave a comment below. If you enjoyed this post, share it with your friends and family!
Lots of love,
