Now I am the voice
/Learning #2 of UPW Chicago 2015
I am going to continue unpacking my learning from Tony Robbin’s UPW (Unleash the Power Within) in Chicago which I attended a few weeks ago. Last week, I shared with all of you the #1 learning from the seminar (in case you missed it, you can read it by clicking here). My #2 learning was also quite powerful. One of the things that Tony did really well was bring out the constructive voice within me. A few weeks ago I wrote about how we have two voices within us, a constructive voice (True Self) and a destructive voice (False Self). In case you missed it, I invite you to read it here.
In a previous post, I shared with you some strategies as to how I access my True Self. One of the great things about Tony Robbins’s approach that I learned at his seminar is that at times, you have to command your constructive voice forward. There are times where a direct, impactful, and even a confrontational approach (between your constructive voice and your destructive voice) needs to occur. Though I had learned this approach before, I realized that I do not use it as often as I should. There are times where you just need to tell the destructive voice within you (the voice that keeps on repeating all of your limiting beliefs, why you can’t move forward, why you can’t change jobs, why you shouldn’t follow your dreams, why you will never lose weight, how it’s all going to fall apart…) to shut up. Just plain and simple. No asking questions. No investigating “why” you feel a certain way. No pondering and wondering. You just catch your destructive voice telling you all of the ways you are limited, and you turn to it and with your constructive voice say “Now I am the voice. I will lead, not follow. I will believe, not doubt. I will create, not destroy. I am a force for good. I am a leader. I will defy the odds. I will set a new standard. I will step up! I will step up! I will step up!” And if you do that with a strong enough intention, a strong enough stance, really letting your destructive voice know you mean business, your destructive voice will shrink away like a scared mouse, and you will stand in your True Self.
I would love to hear from you, so please leave a comment below. If you enjoyed this post, share it with your friends and family!
Lots of love,
